CLERK’S NOTE:
Before the meeting, the Clerk received apologies from Councillors Thould, Parnell, Mann and Allen, including two just prior to the meeting. This meant that the proposed council meeting would not have been quorate and could not have been lawfully held.
The Clerk contacted the councillors who were expecting the meeting to take place and who were intending to be present (Councillors Smith, Mock, Jenkin and Chapple). He informed them of his intention to cancel the meeting to limit the inconvenience caused to them and in order to stop them fruitlessly travelling to the parish rooms.
The councillors were in agreement with that approach and Councillor Mock agreed to put a notice apologising for the cancellation on the parish rooms door.
The Clerk informed councillor that the council’s urgent business would be dealt with according to protocol viz.
Payments. All councillors had received the payments List for January 2026 and no one had raised any issues. The Clerk had given his assurance that all of the listed payments were correct and advised that creditors should be paid. This was agreed.
Planning. The applications listed on the agenda all required urgent responses. It was agreed that there was insufficient time for the Clerk to contact all councillors for views on the listed applications. It was therefore agreed that the Clerk and Councillor Jenkin would agree statements on each of the applications for the Clerk to submit as the formal responses of Crowan Pariah Council.
The Clerk would review the other agenda items and take appropriate action to ensure that they were properly dealt with.
The Clerk will liaise with the Chair of the council and the Chair of the Amenities and Environment Committee to agree dates for the next meetings.
